Tuition

Tuition is only available to persons who meet the following criteria:

  • Aged 17 or over or aged 16 or over and in receipt of the higher rate of Disability Living Allowance (Mobility Component),
  • Hold a valid UK provisional driving licence
  • Legally entitled to drive in the UK.

Lessons

You and your instructor are responsible for agreeing all matters relating to the timing, location and duration of individual lessons.

You must notify your instructor of any matters which affect your driving ability or entitlement to have driving tuition, for example, but not limited to, any lack, or loss, of a valid UK provisional driving licence, or any physical impairment to your driving such as drinking alcohol prior to a driving lesson or any medicine that could affect your driving.

Cancellation of lessons

  • If you wish to cancel a lesson a minimum of 48 hours prior notice should be given directly to your instructor, failing to provide clear 48 hours notice to your instructor will result in losing the tuition money for that session.
  • If your instructor cancels a lesson without giving this minimum period of notice your instructor shall rearrange the lesson. 
  • If you do not give at least 48 hours’ notice of cancellation you will be charged for the lesson(s) concerned in full.
  • Please note that in the event of you having booked your driving test and your instructor deems you are not ready for test, your instructor will not be liable for any loss of money ( such as loss of driving test fees) or any other losses incurred.
  • You must have permission from your instructor for the Test Centre you are booking for. If you choose a Test Centre out of the area, your instructor reserves the right to refuse. If the instructor agrees to take you, the costs are a minimum of 2 hours travel, plus the test time and any mileage incurred. This must be arranged with your instructor prior to booking the test.

Timekeeping & Traffic delays

Our instructors cannot be held responsible for delays due to traffic.

Any lesson start time that is running late, the pupil will be contacted by the instructor in advance (phone signal providing)

Where possible, our instructors will make up any lost time at the end of the current lesson or add to a future booking. Any loss of test fees and lesson fee’s, due to pupil’s to late arrival, are non-refundable by either Dakota’s, or DVSA.

Code of Conduct

Dakota’s has a zero tolerance policy towards any bad language, character attitude and conduct towards the instructor and their vehicle.

Dakota’s requires all pupils to present themselves in a professional manner, with respect to clothing, personal hygiene and appearance. Dakota’s reserves the right to refuse service to anyone.

Collection and use of data (GDPR) – Privacy Policy:

Any personal data you provide will be held securely and in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998.

You agree to allow Dakota’s to post pictures of your driving test pass on our social media pages.

You also agree, to allow when requested and for training purposes only, for you to be videoed during your in-car training session/s with our instructor/s to assist them with further training towards their DVSA required Standard Checks. These Standard Checks are called at random by the DVSA for them to check that all driving instructors are adhering to the high standards of tuition set by the DVSA. 

Refund policy and warranty

You are entitled to cancel your prepaid tuition at any time (for the provisions relating to the cancellation of individual lessons please see ‘Cancellation of lessons’ above). If you have not taken any lesson(s) at the time of cancellation you will be entitled to a full refund of any amounts paid to directly to Dakota’s, excluding any booking fees. This will usually be paid back by Bank Transfer or Card (if paid via Card). Cash alternatives are not available.

Special offers and discounts

From time to time, Dakota’s may provide Special Offers and Discounts. They cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer and are only valid for the person booking them (unless a parent is booking for a child). They will usually come with an expiry date, of which you will be made aware.

Introductory offers are only available to new learner pupils, cannot be used in conjunction with other offers and are not transferable.

Payments and lesson bookings

You must pay for any tuition at least 72 hours before the start of the lesson by using one of the following methods. Failure to do so will result in the lesson being offered to someone else.

  • Bank transfer
  • Cash
  • Card (Additional Fees Apply of 2.5% + 25p) – Phone Payment or paid on previous lesson
  • Total Drive App
